Winter

I love winter. I love the snow and how it turns the dead brown woods by my house into a beautiful sparkling and clean blanket covered world. The woods just change so much when it snows. I remember sledding on the hill in the woods back behind my house. There was a dirt pile right under the snow. We found out about that because the hill was so steep that we fell off our sleds and rolled down the hill and got covered in mud. It was really fun though. Afterwards, my brother and our neighbors went back to the house and had hot chocolate and watched a movie. Then we went to their house and played LIFE. It was an amazing snow day!!!

Newscast Project...
The newscast project was very interesting. Sam and I worked on the project fairly quickly and personally I think we did a great job. I was really happy when we got through the script without any major pauses or breaking out in laughter. We did our newscast on Twilight, the other books in the saga, and Stephenie Meyer. It was a topic we both liked and figured it would be easy. After a few trials we were done and handed it in. Over all not a bad project.
Thankful
There are many things that I am thankful for. I am thankful for my family, even though can get fairly annoying. I am also thankful for my friends. They know just how to make me smile and cheer me up if I'm having a bad day. We have so much fun together and I don't know what I would do without them. I am thankful for some basic things too i.e. food, water, shelter... You get it.
I am really thankful that Thanksgiving is coming up. I love the break from school and the time with family and friends is truly appreciated.

Invention
If I were to ever invent something I would invent something that... well I am unsure as to what I would invent. Perhaps a super fast plane. That would be interesting. I really don't know what I would invent. I am a creative person but I like things the way they are right now. There's nothing that I could really need. Perhaps it's just an uncreative day. Yes, that must be it.
Boy semifinal Game!

This weekend I went to the game and it was really fun. I rode up with a bunch of friends on the fan bus. I was really happy when I found out I was on the charter bus, because it was heated. When we got to the game I felt really silly because I left my jacket on the bus and it was really cold out. However, we all toughed it out in the cold. At certain points in the game it was raining and snowing. I was really excited when the guys won the game. The bus ride back was really fun. I'm glad I went and it's something I will never forget.
Podcast
My podcast about my favorite scary movie was an interesting experience. It was hard for me to do my podcast because I was having problems with the sound. For a while my underlying jingle had all together disappeared. It was all very frustrating. However, once I figured out the sound problem the project ran quite smoothly. I enjoyed the podcast project because it was something new that I had never done before.

I think that this picture is inspirational in many ways. To me, this picture shows bravery. You have to be very brave in order to jump out of plane. I think this picture also shows a sort of free spirited temperament. I believe that you would have to be a fun free spirited person in order to want to jump out of a plane. I also think that this picture shows insanity. I like insanity because it keeps life interesting.

life changing event
I have had many life changing events, but the one that stands out at the moment is when my grandpa died. The night before he died, we all knew he was going to go. I was about six years old at the time. We were boarding a plane to go down to Florida. Mom and Grandma said that they would be there in the morning if he didn't make it. In the morning, i woke up ran down the hall and mom and grandma were in the other room. I was really sad, but when they woke up and we went to the pool, they told me it was okay and that he would have wanted us to have fun. They were right. After my grandpa died, every time I remembered him he was always having fun and doing what he loved. My grandpa taught me to live life to the fullest.

Report Card
I am feeling pretty good about my upcoming report card. I think I'll only have a few grades that I should try to bring up. I could try a little harder than I am right now, but I am pleased at how I am doing. I think by trying to keep a little bit ahead of my work that I am progressing much better than when I chose to procrastinate. I am hoping that I am did better this grading period and that everything has worked out.
things to do in my lifetime
There are several things I would like to do in my lifetime. I would like to visit the Eiffel Tower. I would also like see Buckingham Palace. Other places I would like to go are Dublin, Ireland, Berlin, Germany, Brighton, England, London, England, Rome, Italy, and several other cities. I want to go back to Sweden so that I can visit my family over there. I also want to go visit Trinity College in Dublin with Taylor. I want to go scuba diving, para sailing, skydiving, go on a zip line tour, and rock climb on a real mountain. Other things to do will come, that I'm sure of.

favorite hallowen costume...
I was a fairy. Yes, that was my favorite Halloween costume. I was Tinkerbell at my eight grade Halloween party and it was amazing. I guess it wasn't my favorite costume because of how it looked, but because of the great time I had in the outfit. I organized a party for the whole grade. I had an amazing time at my party. We had food, music, and a bonfire. My parents were really good about having the kids over and were extremely trusting! It was amazing!
Peoria Logo Vote
My favorite logo was logo number eight. I liked the simplicity of it as well as the colors, which were yellow, blue, and a green in a spiral formation. I also liked that it looked kind of like a Celtic symbol. Next, I picked logo number six because again it was simple, and had a color scheme much like the first. I guess I liked the circle format of it. The last logo I voted for was number seven. I liked how it had the old town look and had the establishment year underneath it. I really like the antique, classic look it had.

iphoto project... and other things!
We are doing a project with pictures and trying to spell out our name. It's weird but still a fun assignment. I have been having tons of trouble with the program. Every time I get on my pictures have disappeared and I have to reload them from my flash drive. It is a good thing I have been saving them on there otherwise I would be spending each class finding them again under the searches I had made. It is getting really frustrating for me. I have gotten all my pictures though so i suppose that is good.
Anybody else having problems with iphoto?
I must admit though it is a very creative project and I am enjoying the freedom of expression as well as the looseness of the assignment criteria.
I have been trying to get back into piano like I said earlier but I'm having some problem with the fact that I have zero time to practice oh well.

Newsletter Project
Well for the past week, we got separated into groups and began work on a newsletter. The topic of the newsletter was surrounding homecoming. People did articles on a wide range of topics from football player interviews, to cheerleader and dance team interviews, to asking the homecoming committee questions,to the dance, the game and other events. For my group I was assigned the dance. It was a fairly easy topic and the other girls had good topics as well. As for the article we all had to do we choose to write about the pep rally. Each of our articles had there own style to them, which made the Newsletter neat. At the every end we decided to name our newsletter the Irish Way. What was everybody elses' papers like?
Physical Development
You guessed it another topic from the mission statement. This time around it is over physical development. Physical goals for myself would be getting better endurance. I want also want to be able to run a mile and not want to pass out afterwards. I want better endurance because it would help at dance class. It would also be incredible useful for when I'm teaching dance class, so that I have the energy to keep up the young girls that I assistant teach. The endurance would also pay off for my other goal of running the mile. Besides the endurance and running, I think I would like to work on my core strength. In order to strengthen my core, I'm going to attempt to do 20 sit ups every day.

Intellectual Goals
Again school post form the mission statement only this time it is about intellectual goals. I am going to try to keep my grades from a's to b's but I plan to void the c's if possible. I would like to try to get on the honor roll for the 1st quarter. Other than those goals I would really love to pull up my grade in laird's class because I have not been doing so hot in his class. Hopefully, that goal is realistic enough to work out. Speaking of goals anyone else miffed about the paper in Physical Education class? ( yes I know I spelled it out and I did it because I felt like it ok!!)
Homecoing Newsletters
Well we're doing a newsletter project in computers. It's pretty complicated. I am in a group with Samantha Tangel, and Jessica Yeo. We are trying to step up the newsletter and designing it as best we can. So far we are doing well, I mean were coming along with it, but all of our articles aren't done. However, we should be fine after the weekend when we actually have something to write about because everything we are writing about will have happened by then. Anyone else not know what they are really doing?

saints Project
We're doing a Saints Project for class and it's pretty interesting. I choose St. Cecilia because she's the patron saint of music and I adore music. I learned a little bit more about my confirmation saint which was neat. When I found out how she died I was kind of crept out, so I'm not going to put it up on my blog, but if you want to know go ahead and search it. Unfortunately, we had to present them in front of the class, which was horrible for me because I detest speaking in front of the class. If it would have been just an informational slide show with no talking required I would have done fine. Oh well, at least I got it over with.
Emotional Goal
I am supposed to be writing about emotional goals for this year. This year my emotional goals are to try and reach a stage of calm. I'm trying to go for a fun-filled and stress-free lifestyle. I'm also planning on trying to keep my emotions in check instead of wearing them on my sleeve and having them read so plainly across my face. I definitely want to change that. I'm hoping that i can keep peace with everyone and not let my impatience or temper get to me.

Missions statement goal
For my spiritual goals this year I would like to know more about the Catholic Church, and to learn more about the saints. Even though I went to CCD class for eight years, I want to further my knowledge of the Church rules and doctrines. Accomplishing this goal will be easy since I'm in Church History class this year. However, my goal about learning more about the saints might end up being a bit more of an independent study. The independent study will tough, but I'm pretty sure that if I concentrate that I'll get through at least the saints that I've been curious about.

Getting better
It's been a week. I think I'm starting to get the hang of using the Mac programs. We've started on a Movie Clip presentation and I'm enjoying getting the freedom to pick my pictures and music. Everything about the song I picked is crazy and completely random, but it's a really cute song so I'm okay with it. I finished all I can do for now on that project. Now I'm on to the saint presentation. I picked St. Cecilia because she's my conformation saint and because I'd like to say I'm a musician. Unfortunately, my piano skills have gone down hill in the past few years, but I'm trying to get back into practicing and learning new pieces again. Anybody got any requests on what I should learn to play?

Unsure
Hey there my name is Maureen Smith and I'm a Sophomore at Notre Dame High School. I've made this blog for my computer class. I'm not really good at computers or at using anything electronic so the class is kinda difficult for me. The school recently got two new Mac Computer labs and since I grew up with Dell trying to get a program working the I want takes a lot more work than I thought it would.
